Onshore wind energy

Discover how we generate affordable and sustainable energy with a human approach.

More than 30 years of experience in wind energy

Wind energy is one of the most efficient and environmentally friendly ways to generate cheap electricity and supply it locally. BayWa r.e. designs, develops, builds and operates sustainable wind energy projects. The highest international quality standards and local customisation are the backbone of this.

In this way, together with landowners, the local environment, authorities and private stakeholders, we are investing in a sustainable future for our planet. We are developing wind projects in the Netherlands and Belgium that currently have a total capacity of around 85 MW. In addition, we are contracting land for another 100 MW of wind projects.

Why onshore wind energy is so important

In addition to generating sustainable energy on our own soil, onshore wind offers a wide range of other advantages for the Netherlands and Belgium. These include:

Relief of the power grid

Reducing grid congestion and offering local businesses the opportunity to connect to wind farms

Geopolitical interests

Strengthening national security and energy autonomy

The environment

Improving air quality and reducing the demand for water for generating electricity

Affordability

Low and stable energy costs are possible for everyone, especially when wind energy is combined with energy storage

Generating wind energy with a human approach

The energy transition demands a lot from authorities, companies and citizens. Nevertheless, we at BayWa r.e. are convinced that a sustainable energy supply is very possible with a human approach. If we give local communities the opportunity to play an active role in the energy transition, we can go a long way towards achieving our climate goals.

Enabling participation is therefore one of our core activities when developing a wind farm. We believe that onshore wind projects are only truly successful if the local environment participates and benefits.

Did you know that...?

A single modern wind turbine can supply more than 7,000 households with electricity.

Wind turbines have a lifespan of no less than 30 years.

The wind energy sector is innovating at a rapid pace, with wind turbines that are increasingly quieter and recyclable. The future of wind energy is happening now!
